Important Updates

2024 Season

From your president

On behalf of the board and myself, your new Jr. Herd President, we hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I want to start by reflecting back on our 2023 season. With league changes, we were able to start the year off earlier. We had the opportunity to start conditioning in March, which we will repeat again this year, starting 3/3/24. This will lead us into one of our strongest summer conditioning camps. With your much appreciated support we had some of the strongest early registration sign-ups in the last decade for the 2023 season. With your diligence in fundraising and early registration, our program was able to get new uniforms; a fresh look that will be nothing in comparison to what’s coming in the 2024 season. Our young athletes fought hard, trained hard and grew from the skills they learned. The knowledge base that was built over the previous season will only be expanding this season. There were so many accomplishments thanks to all of you this last year; one being our homecoming. You all stayed late and made it a party. We can’t thank you enough! I am personally proud of the efforts and progress of all of our football and cheer athletes this season. I know our board and coaches would agree in this sentiment. As football may be over I want to wish our cheer teams the best as they head to Nationals in Las Vegas. Let them finish our Herd season off strong!

As many of you may have heard, going into the 2024 season we will have a new board. We made some strong changes, however moving forward collectively we have decided to run the organization as a very professional entity. Your Jr. Herd strives to be the example of how a youth sports program should be operated. With the endorsement of Coach Heff and the High School program, we will be focusing on the fundamentals of the sports. Not just on the field but also off the field. Every aspect of our program will be getting a professional upgrade: social media, registration, website, communication… you name it. Your new board has been putting the polished professional touches on all things Jr. Herd! There will be no off season for your board this year. We are going to give the oldest program in the state the much needed attention it deserves and will soon be sharing exciting updates for pre-season activities(Calendar)! There will also be big improvements to our uniforms, new football equipment such as helmets and some exciting changes to our overall look. As we are teaming up with Riddell for the 2024 season. Hint: You won’t want to miss what out on what our helmets will look like!!

In the year ahead, we look forward to welcoming back our returning families, as well as any new families who join us. We are looking forward to increased communication, transparency, and being the elite program in the area. I would also like to give a big thanks our coaches and board members; both those who are planning to return and those who are not. They have spent countless hours, both behind the scenes and on the front lines to make sure our athletes are learning the skills they need to be successful and making memories that will last a lifetime. Coaching applications are currently out and are being accepted for both football and cheer. The deadline for head coach positions has past however all assistant coach application are still welcome and required. Please return completed applications to egjthregistration@egjrth.com. If you submitted one previously to another email, please forward it to this email.
